 #ITERATION 1

When faced with the challenge of generating an idea, one must go against my way of thinking and my comfort zone, which is the point of my taking up my whole course. Without a clear starting point, navigating this creative territory can seem absolutely to lose my mind. However, it is precisely in this state of cluelessness that the fertile ground for innovation lies. Embracing the discomfort of venturing beyond the confines of one's name can spark unconventional thinking and inspire unique perspectives. It requires a willingness to challenge pre-determined notions and break free from conventional constraints in which my brain was used to think and explore unexplored territories of thought. This journey of self-discovery and intellectual exploration promises to uncover novel ideas that transcend the limitations of identity, leading to truly transformative insights and breakthroughs.

later on, I wanna take inspiration from fashion clothing, mainly focusing on the history of royal clothing.

The above is a traditional shawl which is hand-woven fabric that is made in a place called Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. the colors used are inspired by the royal chambers along with the exquisite design which is mostly worn by the queens of India.

The picture on the left shows how the queens used to wear it on their sarees

I'm taking this specific part of the design where I wanna make it a sequential pattern that fits equally with each other is my initial step.

PERSONAL REFLECTION:

  • Combining existing knowledge with the new process always happens when you meet several dead ends.
  • Difficult to control and get out of the traditional mindset of thinking of an individual
  • It's fascinating how my brain works when it's stuck which is finding a way to create something that was already known to me.

#ITERATION 2

After attempting to replicate the flower design through freehand drawing and facing disappointment with the results, I decided to approach it with a different strategy. Utilizing supporting line segments, I began to sketch out the basic framework of the flower, hoping to establish a more solid structure to guide my drawing. As I carefully plotted each line, I realized the intricate nature of the design demanded a structured approach. The supporting lines served as a foundation, providing a framework for the petals and intricate details to follow. Through this method, I gained a deeper understanding of the design's underlying geometry and the importance of establishing a strong structural foundation before delving into the finer details.

  • The realization dawned upon me that the dot-based approach, inspired by the traditional art of Rangoli, proved to be immensely more efficient in replicating the intricate flower design.
  • Drawing inspiration from the meticulous craftsmanship of Rangoli, where in Indian households especially my grandma used to draw in front of my house creating stunning patterns by connecting dots
  • I adopted a similar technique in my artistic pursuit. By strategically placing dots to delineate the outlines and details of the flower, I found myself able to navigate the complexities of the design with ease and precision.
  • This method not only honored the rich cultural heritage of Rangoli but also imbued my artistic process with a sense of tradition and reverence.
  • the below are some of the traditional rangoli designs.

When I tried the dotted approach the the below are the results that I got. a well-structured format of the flower where we can draw on anything and cut it and it gives the precise flower based on the size that we personally want. So, I continued to follow that. however, there are some drawbacks that I have observed as if you you misplace the dots then the outcome is a bit disturbed. also, the distance between should be extremely taken care of.

PROCEDURE:
  1. I started by putting 5 dots in regular intervals in an approximate manner. you can also choose a precise distance like 1cm or how big the flower you want it to be.
  2. Then I continued the process by arranging the dots in between the above line dots in a sequential manner until the end and continued till I reached one dot at the end.
  3. I arranged the last dot in the middle. expect the last dot everything goes in the middle.
  4. The same procedure goes on the upper line of the 5 dots line but it stops only for one line.
  5. Then you just start connecting the dots on the above manner.

Final Execution:
I followed the designed pattern with the dots which resulted in identical flower designs in an easy way on the paper for the flexible execution. Anyone can choose any material like cloth, cardboard, etc. Later I cut them into separate pieces and colored them. Laid them in sequential format to incorporate them anywhere that you wish to. I have put them on the Bluetooth speaker that I had. So, that it looks pretty.

PERSONAL REFLECTION:
  • On the journey of exploring different drawing techniques, I am struck by embracing the dot-based approach that has had on my artistic process.
  • The realization that drawing inspiration from traditional art forms like Rangoli could revolutionize my approach to creating intricate designs has been both enlightening and humbling. It's not merely about finding a more efficient method but also about connecting with cultural traditions and drawing upon centuries of craftsmanship.
  • The dot-based technique has taught me the importance of being open to new ideas and influences, even ones that may seem distant from my usual artistic approach.
  • I also realized that It's not just about exploring how your mind works in finding the apt techniques but also about embracing the cultural and historical contexts that shape our creative endeavors.
  • Finally, I got in with the journey of making the best out of my tinkering ability and finally made an approach from the elements that are already present in and around me into making an successful procedure in creating a design.
